Mission Statement:
Our goal is to commercialize
products derived from plants grown at low temperatures by enhancing
the ability of plants to photosynthesize and process UV radiation in
cold conditions.

About Us:
Incorporated in 1997 by a team of five
leading Canadian agri-food academics and researchers, Ice Biotech
specializes in the development of technologies that enhance the
yields and sustainability of major crops in cold climates or growing
conditions.

Technologies:
At Ice Biotech we specialize in isolating
Anti-freeze proteins from winter cereals for use in frozen foods to
improve quality and shelf life; creating fertilizers that improve
freezing tolerance and winter survival in plants; producing
transgenic plants by isolating genes and promoters that improve cold
tolerance. We have also developed a UV sunscreen for the consumer
market made from a natural extract plants use to manage and process
UV radiation.

Markets Served:
Ice Biotech serves the Canadian
marketplace from its brand new, state-of-the-art production facility
in The Greater Hamilton Technology Enterprise Centre.
